Ballet dancer Marie-Agnès Gillot and flamenco dancer Andrés MarÃn are united by the same desire for the absolute. They seek the invisible in dance and the spirits that accompany it.
It is a sort of archaic definition of duende "where the poetic dialogues with the tension and elasticity of the void that unites the bodies," explains choreographer Christian Rizzo. "They both claim a very strong animality, but the shadow of that animality must be even more disturbing."
"I like the relationship to the rhythm of flamenco that we do not know in classical dance", says Marie-Agnès Gillot. "A sort of personal drum base." This can only interest Andrés MarÃn, a dancer in search of surprising ideas, who can say and do anything, from the driest heel kick to the most delirious rock opera.
In Magma, these two exceptional dancers, accompanied by the musicians Didier Ambact and Bruno Chevillon, the sound work of Vanessa Court and the lights of Caty Olive, deploy a dance that circulates like a vital energy and reach a peak of elegance and of emotion.
